VIDEO: CAE Healthcare Extends Partnership with CAAHC, Université de Montréal

| Roxanne Blanford

The Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal and CAE Healthcare established a crucial partnership in research and development years ago.
The purpose: To combine health care, faculty experience and knowledge in simulation-based training for the improvement of clinical training and patient safety.

In early December 2014, CAE Healthcare announced a five-year expansion of that partnership, allowing CAE Healthcare to not only continue its operation of the training center and develop medical simulation technology for education but to also offer courses (such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support [ACLS]) and further explore medical simulation training solutions and innovative research in conjunction with CAAHC.

In a statement released to the press, Dr. Robert Amyot, President of CAE Healthcare said,

"We are pleased to partner with CAAHC, a centre that has already given substantive results as we train more than 1,000 students at the centre every month. Our partnership with Université de Montréal's Faculty of Medicine allows us to transfer our expertise in training from the aviation domain to the healthcare domain. Our work at the CAAHC allows us to develop and apply methods of simulation training that help professionals to learn and adapt within a rapidly changing healthcare environment."

CAE Healthcare and the CAAHC first entered into a partnership in 2009, receiving accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). Together, the two enterprises developed a simulation-based medical school curriculum to meet accreditation standards and forward-looking clinical training objectives.
