CAE Healthcare products help West Virginia Junior College grow rural healthcare education

Mar 09, 2023

A mobile nursing lab is traveling throughout West Virginia, bringing healthcare education to rural counties in the state, and high-fidelity medical manikins from CAE Healthcare are aboard for the ride.

Built in partnership with West Virginia Junior College (WVJC), the 38-foot RV serves as a training tool for students entering the nursing field and those looking to advance education.

The state-of-the-art innovation is part of a Hybrid Online Nursing program offered through WVJC. As part of the curriculum, students can take online classes and attend labs in the mobile RV, which features two simulation hospital rooms and a control room with two stations.

Inside the lab, students get the chance to practice clinical skills training with CAE Juno, adult emergency care with CAE Apollo, obstetrics with CAE Lucina and pediatric care with CAE Aria. Each manikin mimics true-to-life clinical experiences without real-world risks.

Fellow students outside the mobile lab can watch the live simulations on an external monitor without disrupting learnings happening inside. Educators and students use video recording technology to support debriefing and continued learning.

As part of our efforts to enhance medical outcomes and make society safer, we are proud to deliver educational tools that help learners in West Virginia and around the world prepare for the moments that matter.
