The 2023 International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) has come and gone. But we’re left with lasting memories, new relationships and even more ideas for the future of healthcare simulation and education.

As we reminisce about the conference, we’re excited to have gathered in Orlando, Florida, with nearly 4,200 healthcare professionals and enthusiastic about our shared mission to enhance medical outcomes for a safer society.

The conference kicked off with a packed learning lab focused on mixed reality. This session presented the possibilities for using augmented, virtual and mixed realities; evaluated short-and long-term knowledge retention and included a live demo.

In the exhibition hall, attendees who stopped by Booth 101 had a chance to explore how our products work together across our portfolio to create an integrated education ecosystem that covers everything from patient and ultrasound simulation to digital learning solutions and simulation center management.

The holistic learner journey showcased how CAE Ares, our mid-fidelity manikin designed to respond to various levels of emergency care, connects with CAE Medicor, our expansive line of simulation enhancements and clinical skills trainers, as well as CAE SimEquip, our portfolio of simulated medical devices that mimic real medical equipment and support resuscitation, ventilation and anesthesia practices.

CAE VimedixVR covered ultrasound education with cardiac, lung and OB-GYN practices. Ultrasound-guided procedures also took place using CAE Blue Phantom.

To top off the immersive walkthrough, attendees explored realistic and customizable clinical experiences with instructor-led virtual platform, CAE Maestro Evolve, and self-directed platform, CAE Embody. Web-based scenario-development solution, CAE iRIS, demonstrated how to help educators easily design high-quality scenarios in collaboration with their peers.

Tying these simulation practices together, CAE LearningSpace, provides educators a full view of their simulation training environment, learner performance and educational outcomes.

Select attendees also got the opportunity to fly a full-flight simulator. This four-hour immersive course focused on ways to take healthcare safety to new heights by implementing flight-safety protocols and checklists.

In addition to our educational ecosystem and immersive courses, our very own Melissa Lowther, AVS Product Sales Specialist, was inducted as a Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Fellow. This honor is given to members of SSH who have made outstanding contributions to the field of healthcare simulation.
