Dynamic patient physiology
Unique virtual patients have responsive physiology that responds automatically and appropriately to clinical interventions.
Developed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and CAE Healthcare in collaboration with SimTabs, the award-winning Anesthesia SimSTAT interface will consist of five screen-based simulation scenarios based on real patient encounters and validated by clinical educators.
Anesthesia SimSTAT integrates CAE Healthcare’s modeled patient physiology and pharmacology into each virtual patient, providing physician anesthesiologists with advanced training to manage challenging emergencies.
Based on user feedback following the release of the first SimSTAT module, ASA and CAE Healthcare integrated new eLearning and assessment tools for more effective learning. Users now have access to a pre-course survey, post-course evaluation and post-course videos for review.

CAE Healthcare and the American Society of Anesthesiologists bring simulation to you with Anesthesia SimSTAT! For the first time, practicing physicians will experience engaging, high-fidelity scenarios in a virtual environment. Anesthesia SimSTAT is approved by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) to fulfill continuing medical education and MOCA 2.0® Part II and IV requirements.
Unique virtual patients have responsive physiology that responds automatically and appropriately to clinical interventions.
Each module includes full complement of interactive anesthesia-related equipment for the environment and monitors with live physiologic data and waveform tracings.
Learner actions are tracked and recorded and can be accessed by users to identify strengths, weaknesses and areas for improvement.
SimSTAT’s interactive orientation tutorial teaches learners to navigate the environment before beginning each scenario. They can also pause a scenario if needed.
Objective assessment and scoring was developed by clinical educators for a standardized, repeatable learning experience.
Created to enhance the emergency management skills of practicing anesthesiologists, SimSTAT’s learning modules are based on challenging hospital-based scenarios.
Since the first SimSTAT module was released in 2017, the development team has been collecting learner data and feedback for continuous improvement of the SimSTAT experience
