Anesthesiologists were among the earliest adopters of patient simulation training, and they have led the way in simulation-based medical education for two decades. In 2016, CAE Healthcare and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) announced that they are teaming up to propel simulation-based education forward with a new learning platform. In 2017, they will release Anesthesia SimSTAT, a dynamic virtual environment that will allow practicing anesthesiologists to obtain Maintenance of Certification for Anesthesiology (MOCA) credit anytime and anywhere.
In collaboration with SimTabs, CAE Healthcare’s Müse physiology engine is being integrated into an immersive gaming environment to produce complex emergency scenarios in anesthesia. For the first time, users will experience an immersive simulation online with a responsive patient, an interactive medical team and a fully equipped operating room with diagnostic and monitoring equipment.
