Tips & FAQ

Blue Phantom

Do Blue Phantom products work with other imaging modalities?

Blue Phantom products are optimized for use with diagnostic ultrasound. We do not guarantee visibility with other imaging modalities.

What is the warranty for Blue Phantom products?

We offer a 30-day risk-free money-back guarantee as well as a one-year standard warranty against manufacturer defects on all Blue Phantom products. An additional one year of manufacturer’s warranty can be added at the time of purchase.

What if my product is no longer under warranty but I want to have it repaired?

Please send the product to Elevate Healthcare for a repair estimate. If the product is out of warranty, shipping will be at your expense.

Where do I find user guides?

Blue Phantom user guides are available here.

My Blue Phantom product is missing the compact disc.

We don’t offer compact discs for user guides for Blue Phantom products.

The ultrasound image quality is not like what I see on the website.

Air in the vessel or tissue will result in a poor-quality image. Please refer to the appropriate Blue Phantom user guide for steps on removing air.

My ultrasound image resolution is not good.

There are several possibilities for this: It can be user error, improper system settings or a manufacturer’s defect. Please check your settings. If the error persists, please contact Customer Service.

What are the storage requirements for Blue Phantom products?

Do not store CAE Blue Phantom products above 32 degrees Celsius. Please refer to the appropriate user guide for additional storage requirements.

Does the fluid need to be drained from my Blue Phantom before storing it?

No. Allowing them to go dry can damage the model and image quality. Please ensure vessels have and maintain fluid when stored.

How do I find out what the lead time is for a Blue Phantom product?

General lead times for products are 90 days.

What does it mean if the once red and blue fluids are now purple?

A purple color indicates the red and blue fluids have mixed, likely from a spontaneous fistula (break in the tube). This can occur when too much pressure is applied to the hand pump. In rare instances, it’s a manufacturing defect.

How can I clean my Blue Phantom product?

Blue Phantom products can be cleaned with soap and water.

What needle size can I use on the Blue Phantom products?

Use an 18- to 21-guage sharp, unbent needle and 7F triple lumen catheters.

I can see track lines in my Blue Phantom model.

Blue Phantom tissue is guaranteed for 1,000 sticks using an 18- to 21-guage, sharp, unbent needle. If you followed that requirement, stick and track marks will heal with time (typically within six to eight hours).

Can I repair the tissue if it’s damaged?

No. Tissue should be repaired by the manufacturer. Please contact Customer Service.

Can I use saline or water in my Blue Phantom model?

No. Blue Phantom products should only be used with Blue Phantom liquid. Using any other liquid can damage the product.

What if fluids are leaking from the Blue Phantom models?

Please contact Customer Service.

Do Blue Phantom products have continuing education (CE) certification?

We do not have CE certification on Blue Phantom products.

What if tubes are falling out of the Blue Phantom models?

Please contact Customer Service.

ICCU

Can I do a free trial of the ICCU e-learning curricula?

Yes. We offer a 30-day free trial, so you can experiment with the workflow of the e-learning Management System, explore the high-quality multimedia material and experience the educational value of the content.

For how long after I’ve purchased my license will I continue to have access to the ICCU e-learning curriculum?

All ICCU e-learning licenses are valid for one year. After that time, you may choose to renew at the same level of access or upgrade to an e-Library License (once the core curriculum program has been completed).

Can I share my ICCU access license with somebody else?

No, access is non-transferable. Users should not share access with anyone else. Each account is created for the sole use of the registered account. Sharing such access can result in immediate and non-refundable account suspension.

I would like to buy an ICCU e-learning web curriculum institutional license for several members of my group. Can I allocate some of the licenses now and then activate the other licenses at a future date?

Yes, from the moment a license is purchased, registrants have 12 months in which to activate their access. The license will automatically activate when the participant logs in to the e-learning system for the first time. If there is no activation within 12 months, the license will automatically expire and the participant will have to buy a new license to access the system.

The same principle applies to users who are part of an institutional license. The licenses do not have to be attributed all at the same time. For example, if an institution buys a license for 12 participants, they can attribute nine of the licenses initially and a few weeks or months later, attribute the remaining three licenses. Each license is activated when the participant logs in for the first time. Once activated, a license will allow access to the system for one year.

Once I’ve completed the ICCU e-learning course, will I be “credentialed” in critical care ultrasound?

No. The academic skills learned in the multimedia tutorials of the ICCU e-learning website provide a strong basis for understanding how to perform goal-directed, bedside ultrasound in the ICU. But acquisition of further and essential theoretical knowledge and skills is necessary in order to become a competent ICU sonographer. After having viewed the tutorials, users are highly encouraged to perform as many "goal-directed" sonographic examinations as possible in their respective ICUs.

Juno

How do I turn off Juno’s Wi-Fi connection?

To turn off Juno’s Wi-Fi connection, please tap the apps folder then locate and tap the Settings icon. Tap the “slide” button to toggle Connections to the on position. Verify the desired Juno network is selected. If not, select the correct network and enter the password “caeadmin” when prompted.

LearningSpace

How can I access and organize my LearningSpace case and activities?

The cabinet system is a good way to organize and control access to your cases and activities. You can group and parent them any way you like (for example, by graduation year), give access to as many faculty as you want and ensure they are not used or edited without permissions via the share option for each cabinet.

Medicor

Can I draw on my Medicor products to do moulage or landmarking?

Yes, Medicor products are non-staining; simply use soap and water to wipe off any markings.

Can I use my own simulated blood?

We always recommend using Medicor simulated blood. If, however, you choose to use your own simulated blood, we recommend patch testing it for staining on a less visible part of the arm.

Do I need to worry about mold developing in Medicor products when I use them with fluid?

No, Medicor products that require fluid injection have mold-resistant foam inside, and any injected fluid can be squeezed out through an opening on the product (found on the back of the product in most cases).

What do I need to know to use Medicor products safely?

For any products requiring injection, a protection plate exists on the interior of the product to prevent the needle from harming a patient simulator or standardized patient. Please be aware that Medicor products including tubing do contain latex. Those with latex allergies should avoid contacting these products.

What do Medicor sticky wounds stick to? How do I apply them? How do I remove them?

Medicor sticky wounds stick to both patient simulators and standardized patients. No adhesive agent is needed. To remove a Medicor sticky wound, carefully peel it off of the underlying surface. No residue will be left behind.

How long can I expect the Medicor sticky wounds to remain sticky?

This varies depending on frequency of use. However, you can reactivate the adhesion of a Medicor sticky wound by washing it with soap and water.

Which patient simulators are compatible with the Medicor geriatric mask?

The Medicor geriatric mask fits many patient simulators but was designed primarily for  Ares and Juno.

How many times can I inject the Medicor Peripheral Intravenous (IV) Catheterization Arm and/or Medicor Peripheral Intravenous (IV) Catheterization Hand before I see any visible degradation?

Although product lifespan can vary based on student use, you can expect the products to endure 10-15x the number of injections competitor products would before any visible degradation. In addition, note that the lifespan of the Medicor Peripheral Intravenous (IV) Catheterization Arm can be extended with replacement skin and tubing which are available for approximately a third of the initial purchase cost.

How do I replace the veins and skin on the Medicor Peripheral Intravenous (IV) Catheterization Arm?

Changing the veins and skin is easy. Here’s a video that shows you how. You can also find more information in our Medicor user guides.

How do I clean the Medicor Peripheral Intravenous (IV) Catheterization Arm?

Run distilled water or saline solution through the veins. Once done, use a syringe to push air through the veins to dry out the system. More detailed set-up, cleaning and storage instructions can be found in product user guides here.

How do I store Medicor products?

We recommend retaining the packaging Medicor products arrive in and using it to store the products to prevent dust or debris from accumulating. We also recommend storing Medicor products at room temperature and away from direct sunlight. More detailed information can be found in the product user guides here.

Vimedix

What are my options for applying lubrication to the Vimedix ultrasound simulator in order to run a TEE exam?

For applying lubrication to the Vimedix manikin torso via the mouth and esophagus, we suggest using aerosol cooking spray (such as PAM).

Why am I getting a skewed picture when viewing the Vimedix display?

A skewed picture is typically caused by an electrical interference with the source. Make sure there is no metal within 4 feet of the head, neck or torso and no other Vimedix systems on the same frequency within 6 feet.

Why does the augmented (3D construction) side of my display “wobble” and seem to move on its own?

A wobbling picture is typically caused by an electrical interference with the source. Make sure there is no metal within 4 feet of the head, neck or torso and no other Vimedix systems on the same frequency within 6 feet.

What is the IP address and the port number for downloading Vimedix updates?

The IP is 67.228.7.120, and the port is 3690.
