Dear John,
The HPS technology originally came out of the Anesthesia world, thus there is quite a following within that group. Depending on where you would like to go, I can identify some local "practitioners" for you...

Regional anesthesia renders a larger area of the body insensate by blocking transmission of nerve impulses between a part of the body and the spinal cord.General anesthesia refers to inhibition of sensory, motor and sympathetic nerve transmission at the level of the brain, resulting in unconsciousness and lack of sensation.

I dela with administration department but I have heard say that HPS is extremely effective simulator that works as respiratory gas exchanger. I fact it has several other uses as it represents drug interaction scenarios and surgical complex operations.

Dear Jannieslatr,
may I add that the HPS also includes respiratory mechanics and advanced monitoring options: Neither a ventilator nor a monitor will complain that no real patient is connected. Monitoring also includes such things as Cardiac Output determination and blood gas analysis. Ventilation allows modern support modes of ventilation but also the use of volatile anesthetics. Also more than 50 built-in Simulated Clinical Experiences (SCEs) are included together with complete documentation and references, debriefing proposals, etc. There is more to say to this simulator, please do not hesitate to ask if addtional information is required.
Thank you,
Stefan

Hey so, I'm at last year of high school and I'm thinking of study to be an anesthesiologist but I wanna know some things first. Is it well paid? how many years does it take? and, can you study another career of medicine when you finish it? can you be an anesthesiologist and surgeon? because if you can't I'll left the anestesia cause I really prefer surgery. And the most important, if you make a mistake with the anestesia, can you kill somebody? :S
