I received an interesting question from a hospital in Virginia. The OR educator wants to use METIman to teach implantable port access. The specific question was
"One of the OR nurses has a power port with a skin-like sheath that we thought we could put under Metiman's chest. Would this work? Any ideas of what to use to pad the area around it with so we don't accidentally puncture anything?"
I have not used my simulator in this way in the past. Does anyone have experience with this? If I were setting this up I would do it to utilize the same hole as the needle decompression (this is an MMP) to avoid damage to the chest skin. Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
John
